“Run for the Magic” Half Marathon, 5K and Kids’ Dash
The “Run for the Magic” Half Marathon and 5K Fun Run/Walk is part of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Summer Running Series and is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. Runners and walkers come from all over the country to tackle the 13.1-mile course that rises and falls 700 feet in elevation.
On August 8, 2009, a record 500 participants put on their running shoes and ran or walked to raise more than $30,000 for BBBSF’s mentoring programs.

Flagstaff residents, Sara Wagner and Matt Clark, won the women’s and men’s Half Marathon divisions of the race, respectively. Both runners were featured in the sports section of The Daily Sun shortly after the race where they mutually agreed that the “Run for the Magic” Half Marathon was a challenging, worthwhile event.
